What happens when hard-earned perspective changes everything?
Sports Coats & Boots
A social fundraiser for scholarships for the Zeta Iota Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. In 2026, the 7 time event raised over $35,000 cumulatively which has awarded 35 students college scholarships. The event has inspired emulators of the theme.
NAMI Partnership concept
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) out-of-box partnership with a historically Black fraternity. MDI pitched an idea to have NAMI sponsor the photo booth at the Sports Coats & Boots social fundraiser. The concept was for partygoers to hold a sign saying “Smiling and Dancing Puts You in a Great Mood.” NAMI was able to generate a social media buzz and add followers.
Self-Image Artistry: The implied objective was to make dealing with a mental health issue acceptable and getting treatment was for everyone, regardless of race.

FOURSOMES FOR SOME GOOD
A group of non-profits came to MDI and asked us to come up with the name of their inaugural golf fundraiser. They wanted people to immediately know that their event was for a good cause and not just for competitive fun. MDI named it “Foursomes For Some Good.” We designed logos and signage with the name to brand the event.

UNIQUE MARKETING
A small production company could not compete with the big marketing budgets of the larger production companies, so they came to MDI to help them stand out. We came up with a solution to be memorable and establish a personalized connection with the executive they would pitch to. We took the opening page of a trade magazine and replaced the article and photo with the project the company was pitching. It caused a chuckle and made the client memorable. It also subliminally makes the client believe the project could actually be a hit.
Self-Image Artistry: The concept made the team at the small production company feel confident that they could compete with bigger companies with more resources.

THOUGHTFUL GIFT
A client came to MDI asking for a gift idea for a potential client they were pitching to. MDI did some research and found out that the potential client was having his first child. We researched what college he went to and ordered a onesie with the name and mascot on the front and put the family name on the back with the year he was born. The potential client said it was the most thoughtful gift he received for his son's birth. The small production company did not land a television deal but the potential client gives the them time to pitch each and every time they have something new. They stood out and were forever memorable. The potential client has since left for another TV network but they shared cell phone numbers and will keep in touch as their careers advance.
Self-Image Artistry: The prospect felt special and made him feel like he had 'arrived' in his new role as a Programming Director.

GHANA REUNION EXPERIENCE
A group of 11 friends from college were used to taking a reunion trip every five years. They came to MDI asking for an idea there 30th reunion that would be their biggest trip of their lifetime since all of them were healthy, present, and able to travel. MDI planned a trip to Ghana, Africa that had never been done for a group of their size and close relationship. The trip included tours, community service, spa day, friendship awards ceremony, and nightlife. The trip was featured in magazines and inspired other groups of men to take a similar trip.
Self-Image Artistry: The group's trip was featured in alumni magazines, fraternity magazines, and digital magazines.

INVITED TO THE COOKOUT
A television production company asked MDI to develop a daily talk show concept that included discussion on hot button topics about race, politics, and social issues. The company was pitching several shows to Warner Brothers and wanted to add a talk show like The View. MDI came up with a show named Invited to the Cookout. "Invited to the Cookout" is a phrase in the Black community that means that a non-Black person is embraced because they are a supporter of Black issues. The show has Black hosts and co-hosts and the setting is a real cookout with food, music, dancing, and cookout competitive games. Warner Brothers loved the concept and developed it for over six months.
Self-Image Artistry: Viewers' perspective has been shaped by hearing an opposing viewpoint without feeling offended and attacked. Their viewpoint is respected.
